theorifice, posting in toronto @ 11:46 pm: Hiking Trails in the City?

I'm looking for a nice (hard) hiking trail that's accessible via TTC, something that's a little more exotic than the places listed here
http://www.toronto.ca/parks/recreation_facilities/discovery_walks/discover_index.htm. Has anyone been on any sweat inducing walks through some trees ?
Thanks,

Thanks!
fleshintogear, posting in toronto @ 05:00 pm: Karaoke!

Hey guys,
I am wondering if any of you know of any decent karaoke places to go to on a Saturday night, looking for a youngish kinda of crowd like 19-34 and preferably has a lot of selection, but in a pub or something, also downtown. I don't want to rent a private booth or anything like that.
Any help is appreciated.

Where would I find a good selection of two-way radio accessories downtown? Headsets and cop mics and such for walkie-talkies:
this sort of thing.
The technology's a bit too old for the College St. computer strip, and AFAIK, there won't be much luck at the big-box tech stories. (Best Buy/The Source/etc.)

For the love of all that is holy, please stop playing these songs:
I Haven't Met You Yet - Michael Buble
Tonight's The Night - Black Eyed Peas
Bad Romance - Lady Gaga
That Taylor Swift song where she's the cheerleader in the bleachers
And like, pretty much anything you play a couple of hundred times a day.
Not looking forward to Christmas, man.
(I'm at work so have no choice about what we listen to here).

Hi, I'm Mary, I write for one of the major news websites in TO.
I am writing a story about New Year's Eve (already) and am looking for people who always go out New Year's Eve, or who always stay home, for whatever reason.
The interview would literally be like, 7 minutes long and can by done by phone if need be.
If you know someone who might want to be interviewed about it, please let me know!
thanks,
Mary

Toronto!
I'm going to be acquiring a car from out of province this weekend and need to get it safety and emission tested before Ontario will license it...
So I need recommendations of good (and preferably CHEAP) garages to get it done since I've never owned a car in this city before.
Help!
TIA :)

doombuggie, posting in fibromyalgia @ 05:39 am: An intro and invitation ......

Hello, I am Jon and i have lurked here for a while now reading all your stories and wishing i could help each and every one of you somehow. I have suffered fibro's physical side for at least 2.5 years and looking back see the mental effects and such starting 7-8 years ago when i started losing my ability to recall info and use it in a logical manner in the course of doing computer related work.
recently we decided to try a med that we really didnt expect much out of but figured it was a last ditch effort cause i was so near suicide it was that or commit myself and stay inpatient until they could find something that would give me at least part of my life back because the pain and mental difficulties had become so overwhelming that i was reduced to living not day by day like a lot of us, but hour by hour and sometimes even jsut trying to find a reason to make it through the next 15 to 30 mins.
well the med (adderall) has given me more of my life back than i could have ever imagined. I have documented a bit of the history and background of the last couple years, especially the last 6 mo which is about where it got to the point that the only thing keeping me going was the inability to commit suicide due to how badly i knew it would devestate my partner of 15 years. (i'm 33 now)
I have also documented what the change was, how sudden and overwhelming and amazing it was for me, and how much of a struggle going back to almost "normal" again and being able to function and take care of the "normal" things in life like hygiene and household chores as well as being able to start doing things socially and enjoying them without wasting spoons on trying to mentally overcome the illness enough to at least make it through whatever i was doing with some sort of enjoyment.
There are a number of posts, all tagged with "recovery" in my personal journal that i have decided to remove from a special filter and have made them completely open to EVERYONE, even non-friends in the hopes that my story will help someone hold on to a little bit of hope that eventually something may help them.. all the posts are TL;DR and very intimate personal mental dumps of the mental processes that are going along with the sudden turn in my road of life.
If you are interested in reading my story in great detail and following how things continue, feel free to browse anonymously if you feel you need to, or (my preference) feel free to friend me and comment freely however you see fit as long as its not a personal attack against me or another reader. you are welcome to question my decisions and/or openly disagree, disapprove of my choices and preferences in this journey, as long as its done so respectfully.
may you all find an infinate supply of spoons, and i hope you enjoy the read if you see whats going on with a good story for a change.
