Of the 19 wishes, 17 have just to be sealed & taken to the post office.. one *may* require extra postage due to weight.. that one is going to the states..
Still working on the "one needs some cleaning & one [that] is just waiting for me to get off my ass & paint!" The one that's cleaning is actually in the dishwasher - don't ask.. but that will be one of those extra postage because of weight ones as well.. That's an Aussie one.. The one to paint, is actually for several people so that paint job will clear out a good number of the remaining wishes, 'cept the new ones that come in cuz I'm gettin' something, or have gotten something..

Wishes iii

I've 19 more wishes done up, or rather mostly done up.. they all still need postage, one needs some cleaning & one is just waiting for me to get off my ass & paint! *g*
Now, when I say "A" wish, I mean 1 envelope.. "A" wish may contain one, two, or even three wishes, depending on the requests & my ability to grant.. Mind you they are all smaller wishes..

I have 2-3 larger wishes that I haven't done yet, but in some cases I'm working on, in others they are on the back burner.. smaller, easier, multiple wishes are granted first.. Christmas Cards, post cards, stickers.. etc.. Wishes for souvenirs are surprisingly not easy.. Most stores don't carry that kinda stuff "off-season"..

I am still waiting on addresses for some people.. *sigh* I guess that means follow up next week.

I still have a few of my own personal cards to do up too.. about a doz there..

And I am off to bed.. 'night all

I had some time doing laundry today & I did up my own holiday cards & I also have <strike>11 wishes</strike> 21 wishes to go out.. All of them are Christmas Cards, but they are going everywhere, locally, nationally within Canada, the US, and across Europe..

I received another response my address requests, so that's another to do! :)

I just need to get more stamps!! :)

Just as a note.. I will not be collecting any further wishes to do, unless either a) I am being sent a wish by someone new, b) I receive a wish I wasn't expecting (reciprocating), or c) I get all these wishes done ans still have time & money to spare

Reposting a deep thought..

In the end, you'll likely never meet all 6 billion people to find out but you WILL end up missing out on appreciating your best friend.

Same is true for a man. love isn't about finding the only one in the world for you, it's about finding someone with the same beliefs/morals/desires/dreams/plans as you and being comfortable and in love enough to make a life together.

Holiday Wishes - '09

Seasons Greetings all!!

Since this in on my personal journal, if you wanna know what the heck this is, just ask! :)

My name is Kelli.. I'm in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario Canada.. I am currently on disability trying to cope with multiple medical issues, incl CFS, FMS, Endo, etc..) Some days are easier than others, but getting something in the mailbox other than the bills would definitely brighten a day!
I've been doing this since '04.. This is a great community.. Some years I participate more than others.. I already have notes made for 70-some wishes and I hope those get send a few more :)

My Wish List

Snail mail.. Be it a letter, post card, a seasonal card (I do the Christmas thing), art work, or something creative.. I'd especially like stuff from from across the world, and I live in Canada

Coins.. I know there are collector coins in Canada and the States, so those would be great, especially the recent Canadian ones or any American ones, plus any foreign (non-Canadian) currency, preferably coinage..

Plushies.. any type of stuffed toy.. Yes, for me - I am addicted.. Even one of those little McDonald's TY plush toys if gently used or still in the bag..

Memberships.. to the Endometriosis Association, and/or the National Fibromyalgia Association preferably the 'online membership'

Donations to the Endometriosis Association, FMS Canada, and/or the National Fibromyalgia Association .. Or other charity of your choice..

Cookie recipes.. I do cookies for some of my gifts every year & try to mix it up, so I was hoping for some good & preferably easy ones that I can make for Gifts. And Diabetic ones.. I have two people that are diabetic on my list.. esp Shortbread!

Handmade Christmas Ornaments or decorations.. Over the years, I have made some for my tree.. and I am making some to go out as wishes.. I'd love to get some back. :) Or regionally/religiously ethnic ones would be cool too!

Books.. from the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, or the third in Left Behind End of State series titled Necessary Evils by Neesa Hart.. from any sort of Christian or semi-christian novels.. & the Christina ones... (when I remember what the heck I mean by this, I'll let ya know! :)

A grab bag.. A surprise of anything in my mailbox would be awesome!

Click to help! Please add the animal rescue site link to your browser so you click everyday. Then click on the rest of the charities there helping the Rainforest, Literacy, Child Health, Breast Cancer, and Hunger.. You can also buy a gift or nine for some of the special people (four-legged or two) in your life this season, as each charity has its own store..

If you plan to grant a wish, pls comment below with the link to your own wish list :)
Thank you in advance to everyone for their consideration..

Remember ~ if you receive a gift, Say Thank You!!
And imo big items deserve a Personal Thank You.. do so after you receive the item so the sender knows it's been received..
I have been disappointed with the few thank yous I've received for gifts I sent, esp the DVD I sent to England a few years back.. So for those whose wish I am able to grant, esp anything more than a card within Canada or the US, I prefer a thank you to me directly or on my wish list, not in the thank you community.. :) How else do I know if you received it or not?!

Request about tags.. pls include your country & continent.. I dunno about others, but I search by country & for those over the pond, by continent. Also include, as listed, your wishes, like mine will include stuff like cards, coins, recipes, etc..

**Also keep an eye on your spam boxes, so far, I've had three wishes go awol via my spam filter..**

~ Lest We Forget ~

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead.
Rob & I in Niagara

As some of you may know, & others may not, Rob & I are currently on vacation in Niagara Falls. Now, this isn't really so much about our trip as it is about a revelation I had today.
Because of incident back a few months back, for our trip this time around, the hotel manager upgraded us for our entire vacation to a fireplace/jacuzzi suite. That in its self is sweet, but the room also have, in addition to the normal amenities plus the fireplace (it's a faux fireplace) plus the jacuzzi, it also has sitting area. Most hotel rooms, at least here, have a desk and a chair, however ours has a sitting area with two chairs and a love seat with a coffee table as well as the desk. Kinda cool. But, the one additional thing that resulted in my revelation is the mirror over the bed.
I had a rest when I got back to the hotel after dinner before heading down to the pool. I tend to lay down most comfortably in the buff. So, there I am, laying on the bed and caught the image of my nekkid figure in the mirror's reflection. At our apartment we don't have a full length mirror. Even looking face front doesn't really give you the real picture & I don't really think to check out the profile of my body when I do get a full length mirror. But I caught a glimpse of myself as I was laying down, in my side, in profile to the mirror. & I saw exactly how horribly big I am. I was repulsed. I think I now know why Rob's not really all that interested in me anymore. It's, well, disgusting..
Something needs to be done. *I* need to do something. .
*sigh*
 Posted via email from Kelli's Posterous

Can Those with an Invisible Illness Park in the Blue Spots without Others Seeing Red?

By: Lisa Copen

OPINION, August 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Do you know the fine for using someone else's handicapped parking permit is $300?" "That parking spot is saved for the disabled! You should be ashamed of yourself!" Nearly everyone with an invisible illness has been told, "You don't look disabled to me!" One of my friends replied, "Well, you don't look stupid to me." I just bite my lip to try to prevent the tears from forming, broken-hearted that I appear to be deceptive, when I would do anything to give back this parking perk that I use on a rare occasion.

As I circle the parking lot a fourth time on this day I hope for a spot to open up within two-hundred yards of the store, but there is nothing remotely close at this bustling superstore where I need to buy my prescriptions and milk for my toddler. My rheumatoid arthritis is flaring badly, causing extra fluid in my knees to dislocate pieces of loose bones. Every step is painful and unpredictable.

Finally I sigh in resignation and pull into the farthest "blue parking spot." I reach for the placard--the one that has a bold white symbol of a wheelchair--and no, I don't have a wheelchair--yet. So after fifteen years of having this "privilege" at my disposal I still warily scan the area before reluctantly dangling the placard from the rear view mirror. Is there anyone watching, wondering, or waiting, ready to confront me?

I've had scathing notes left on my windshield and many people, empowered by television exposés, have approached me with their opinions. Judgmental expressions and whispers sting just as much. My husband and I adopted a baby and when I would get my child of the car I would avoid eye contact with onlookers because I could hear their whispers of, "She's not disabled! Or--if she is--she has no right to have a child!"

Nearly 1 in 2 Americans (133 million) live with a chronic illness. It could be diabetes, cancer, cystic fibrosis, fibromyalgia or even chronic back pain. Many illnesses make walking long distances impossible because of limited lung capacity, physical pain, or unpredictable numbness in the legs. According to statistics provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, about 96% of these illnesses are invisible. There is no sign of the illness existing, nor the use of an assistive device like a cane or a wheelchair.

I began National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week in 2002, which is held this year Sept 10-16, 2007, after witnessing thousands of people who had frustrations, fears, loneliness, and bitterness, about feeling invalidated. One's illness, age, diagnosis, or level of disease degeneration, doesn't change the emotional pain.

Strangers and loved ones alike doubt the severity of our illness or even the diagnosis. We've heard, "You look so good! You must be feeling better." But we don't feel better. We just bought some fake tan in a bottle and pasted on a smile.

National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week is a time to acknowledge that invisible illness is more prevalent than we'd imagine and everyone--both those who are healthy and ill--can make a difference by encouraging someone with an invisible illness, rather than tearing someone down.

Are those parking spots painted blue because they give so many people the blues? That small area of square footage is a breeding ground for many frustrations as we are forced to defend our illness and character to total strangers. I'd gladly trade in my placard indefinitely for just a week of having my old body back when I could run, sit on the floor, or even hold a fork without tendons popping out of place.

I anticipate the day when a nationally designated system is formed. Texas law states that blue placards are for those who use assistive devices; red permits are for people with a "condition that impairs mobility." In other states, red symbolizes six months of disability and blue is permanent. It's confusing! And for one with invisible illness, the wheelchair symbol discredits both our physical pain and--in the eyes of others--our reputation. Until then, we rely on Invisible Illness Week bumper stickers.

The next time you see a healthy looking man loading groceries into his car--parked in the "blue spot"--don't glare. Stop and offer to help him, or just smile nicely, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Seventy percent of suicides have uncontrollable physical pain as a factor. Your smile may save his life. At the least, it will astonish him, perhaps providing him with genuine encouragement he hasn't felt for months.

Source: <a href=http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/678833929.html>http://www.christiannewswire.com</a>

 Posted via email from Kelli's Posterous

Tweets! 20 Things to Say to an Ill Person

We’re Tweeting these for 20 days, 7/13 - 8/1
Thank you for tweeting any of them any time! Oftentimes people are told what not to say. This is a great help in giving them an idea of what to say! Feel free to add your own ideas in the comments below. We’d love to hear them!

#1 I don’t know what to say, but I care about you

#2 I’m going to the grocery, what can I get you?

#3 Do you just need to vent? I’m all ears!

#4 If you need a good cry, I’ve got plenty of tissues and a shoulder

#5 I really admire how you are handling this. I know its difficult.

#6 I’m bringing dinner Thursday. Do you want lasagna or chicken?

#7 Can I get your kids for a playdate? My kids are bored.

#8 I cant sit still. Got any laundry I can fold?

#9 What can I pray for you about that no one else is praying for?

#10 Can I bring a few friends over to clean your house fast?

#11 I don’t have any idea what you are feeling, but I will always listen

#12 I saw these flowers and thought they’d cheer you today

#13 How can our church encourage those with chronic illness?

#14 Tell me what it is really like to be you for a day

#15 I made too much dinner for our family. Can I bring you some?

#16 you are amazing. How has your illness given you appreciation for life?

#17 Do you want me to come over while you wait for test results? (or go to the doctor’s office with you)

#18 You listen to me better than any other friend. Thanks

#19 I have Monday free if you need me to run some errands or take you

#20 Tell me about this God who gets you thru 1 more day?

Source: http://invisibleillnessweek.com/?p=1331

 Posted via email from Kelli's Posterous

I had an odd dream... It involved a friend of mine from Highschool.. Michelle.. an ex who comes across gay & ends up getting vaporated (not cuz he's gay).. and summer school (non-remedial).. Programs based on scouting.. I wasn't allowed to be in the class I wanted to be cuz I was over qualified & oddly, Stephen was in it (the class).. & they were trying to upgrade me.. & my sister & my mom called to babysit while I am here trying to sort out this class thing & Rob's sitting there expectign a ride to work cuz he'd taken the morning off to see his son (Stephen) into his first day of school..

I'll see if I can work up more details later.. so this actually has some sence to it.. and a time line..

Sexual Dreams

You both dream about sex, but you and your partner may have very different things in mind.

What Men Versus Women Dream About When They Dream About Sex
by www.SixWise.com

A healthy sex life is undeniably an important part of a healthy lifestyle, and there is, in fact, research to prove it. Assuming it is done with a partner you can trust, and no sexually transmitted diseases are involved, the benefits of sexual relations include:

* Relief from depression and stress: "The release from orgasm does much to calm people. It helps with sleep, and that is whether we talk about solo sex or sex with a partner," says Jennifer Bass, the head of information services at the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction in Bloomington, Indiana, in an MSNBC article.

* Reduced risk of heart disease: A 2001 study by researchers at Queens University in Belfast found that men who had sex three times a week or more reduced their risk of heart attack and stroke by half.

* Pain relief: Levels of the hormone oxytocin surge to five times their normal level right before orgasm, and this releases pain-relieving endorphins in your body.

* A strong immune system: An antibody that boosts your immune system, immunoglobulin A, is 30 percent higher in people who have sex once or twice a week, according to researchers from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania.

* A reduced risk of prostate cancer. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that frequent ejaculation is linked to a lower risk of prostate cancer.

It's interesting to note, then, that both men and women dream about having a healthy sex life, and these dreams account for 8 percent of all dreams, according to research by Antonio Zadra, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Montreal.

In a study of 109 women and 64 men who kept diaries of their dreams for two to four weeks, Zadra uncovered what men and women dream about when they dream about sex.

Do Men and Women Dream About Sex Differently?

While women have just as many sex dreams as men (something that used to be disputed), they do not always dream about the same things as men.

Women, for instance, are more likely to dream about:

* Current or past sexual partners
* Celebrities
* Unwanted sex
* A partner having an orgasm

Men, meanwhile, tend to dream about:

* Imaginary people
* Sex with more than one person
* Sex in public or in unknown places
* Initiating sexual contact

There were also some similarities. Both men and women dreamed most often about:

* Sexual intercourse
* Sexual propositions (flirting)
* Kissing
* Fantasies
* Masturbation

Do your sexual dreams have anything to do with your real-life sexual desires? According to Zadra, your dreams are, in fact, indicative of your waking thoughts.

"If the sex dreams tend to involved unknown or fantasy characters, it is probably a reflection of your waking state, that your desires and fantasies are with strangers," Zadra said.

"Gender differences in the content of everyday sexual dreams may reflect people's waking needs, experiences, attitudes, and concerns with respect to sexuality," he said.

So if you and your partner are looking to add a spark to your love life, you may want to devote some time to journaling about your dreams, and then sharing those hidden desires with your partner.
